Counterpoint Studios Policies
-
Student & Family Policy Acknowledgment
Counterpoint Studios provides individualized music instruction designed to help students develop musical skills, confidence, creativity, and a lifelong appreciation for music. Lessons and curriculum may be adapted to each student's age, experience, interests, goals, and learning needs.
-
Attendance & Makeup Lessons
Students are expected to attend scheduled lessons consistently and arrive on time. Students should not attend while ill or contagious.
For planned absences, families must provide at least 24 hours' notice to qualify for a makeup credit. Eligible makeup lessons are scheduled based on teacher availability and may be offered in person or virtually. Makeup credits must be used within 90 days, are not redeemable for cash or transferable, and expire when enrollment ends. Emergencies and illness cancellations always qualify for a makeup. Teacher cancellations will receive a makeup credit or another appropriate rescheduling arrangement.
-
Tuition & Payments
Monthly tuition is due by the 5th of each month through the studio's designated payment system. Families are responsible for maintaining a valid payment method and paying tuition on time. A $10 late fee will be charged for each full week tuition remains unpaid after the due date. Lessons may be paused while an account is delinquent. Tuition rates are based on the lesson format and duration selected. Additional travel fees may apply for in-home lessons outside the studio's standard service area.
-
Materials & Enrichment
The studio charges a $20 Materials & Enrichment Fee per student twice per year to help cover supplemental materials, music, prizes, awards, and enrichment opportunities. This fee is separate from tuition and is non-refundable once applicable materials or opportunities have been provided. Families may be responsible for purchasing certain books, music, accessories, or specialty materials if they choose to opt out of the Materials and Enrichment Fee.
-
Withdrawal
To discontinue lessons, families must provide written notice by the 15th of the month and at least two weeks before the student's final lesson. Tuition remains due through the required notice period. Unused makeup credits must be scheduled and completed before the student's final lesson and expire when enrollment ends.
-
Conduct, Safety & Supervision
Students are expected to treat teachers, other students, instruments, property, and facilities with care and respect. Since we share a space, students and families must wait in the designated waiting area, and there is a zero tolerance policy from the landlord for tampering with the gym/PT equipment, as we want to respect the space and for our students to stay safe!
The studio may end a lesson or contact a parent/guardian when behavior is unsafe, harmful, threatening, severely disruptive, or prevents the teacher from safely conducting the lesson.
Students and families must follow all instructions from teachers, studio personnel, facility staff, and emergency responders. Counterpoint Studios does not provide supervision outside the student's scheduled lesson time. Parents/guardians are responsible for timely pickup of minor students and must remain on site or return at least five minutes before the lesson ends, as applicable.
-
Communication & Policy Changes
Families are responsible for keeping contact and emergency information current and should communicate promptly regarding attendance, scheduling, illness, emergencies, and other matters affecting lessons. Counterpoint Studios may update its policies as necessary. Families will be notified of significant changes when appropriate.
